This is a place for historical data to come alive. Our goal is to encode primary and secondary source materials with our space-time metadata model. Once we have enough records that share common space-time information, the sandbox will become an interoperability testing grounds for developers and users.
Originally an archival endeavor, this project centers around the first person accounts made by Mr. John Slocum while stationed in Papua New Guinea and the Philippine Islands from 1943 to 1945. The project's goal is to make those records interoperable with a diverse body of data sets from other national organizations and disciplines. Currently, the project has transcribed and encoded one of Mr. Slocums's diaries which is shown below.
